CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR/ PROJECT MANAGER – INTERIOR DIVISION

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Construction Estimator/ Project Manager – Interior Division

Reports To: President

Location: Portsmouth, Ohio

Hours: Full Time

The ideal candidate possesses excellent prioritization and organizational skills, strong knowledge of construction practices, (specifically metal framing, drywall and acoustical ceilings) documentation, quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, Microsoft Excel, OnScreen Take Off, Corecon and 5+ years of public and commercial construction estimating or project management.

Primary responsibilities

  • Develops construction costs, by doing take-offs on blueprints and gathering costs from fabricators, manufactures and construction trades, vendors while utilizing appropriate costs methods to structure competitive bids.
  • Analyzing information, developing budgets
  • Analyze Drawings & Specifications for Project Scope of work
  • Prepares construction budget by studying drawings; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation
  • Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings
  • Ability to conduct accurate and timely take-off’s
  • Perform all counts for all Labor and Materials.
  • Prepare scopes of work
  • Prepare cost analysis and suggest ways to improve accuracy and value
  • Maintain vendor and contact lists
  • Maintain relationships suppliers
  • Oversee construction projects from beginning to end
  • Manage the budget and estimated costs
  • Determine the necessary equipment, materials, and manpower needed
  • Keep track of inventory, tools and equipment
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to schedule
  • Prepare reports regarding job status
  • Resolve any problems that may arise
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
  • Evaluate risks
  • Train and mentor construction workers and construction laborers
  • Collaborate with General Contractors, engineers, architects and key team members of the project team
  • Negotiate with external vendors on contract agreements
  • Obtain the appropriate permits and licenses from AHJ
  • Plan construction operations
  • Ensure all deadlines are met
  • Assist in hiring carpenters and other staff
  • Delegate responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience with large-scale, public and commercial projects
  • Detailed experienced reading architectural plans
  • Preferred, Bachelor’s Degree in construction related field
  • Team Player
  • Documentation Skills
  • Quality Focus
  • Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of MS Excel
  • Experience using computer based estimating and project management software; OnScreen Take Off, and Corecon

Job Type: Full-time

Experience:

  • Estimating: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Project Management 5 years (Preferred)
  • A strong knowledge of metal framing, drywall, and acoustical ceilings

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)
