This position works collaboratively with key individuals, coalitions, schools, organizations, and community partners to implement evidence-based prevention strategies using the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF).The Prevention Specialist provides training, technical assistance, and support to strengthen local prevention initiatives and promote healthier communities.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesSPF Step 1: AssessmentProfile population needs, resources, and community readiness.Identify prevention needs, gaps, and priorities through data collection and analysis.SPF Step 2: Capacity BuildingMobilize and strengthen community coalitions and partnerships.Engage stakeholders and build community support for prevention initiatives.SPF Step 3: PlanningAssist in the development of comprehensive strategic prevention plans.Establish goals, objectives, and evidence-based strategies to address identified needs.SPF Step 4: ImplementationCoordinate and support evidence-based prevention programs, activities, and campaigns.Provide training and technical assistance to community partners and stakeholders.SPF Step 5: Evaluation and SustainabilityMonitor and evaluate prevention efforts and outcomes.Support continuous quality improvement and sustainability planning.Recommend improvements or replacement of programs that do not achieve desired outcomes.Education And Certification RequirementsBachelor's Degree required.Degree in Human Relations, Prevention, Public Health, Social Services, Education, or a related field preferred.Must obtain Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) certification within 24 months of employment.Required Skills And QualificationsStrong communication and interpersonal relationship-building skills.Excellent organizational and time management abilities.Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and data management systems.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse community partners.Strong presentation and public speaking skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Additional RequirementsMust be willing and able to travel for training, meetings, and job-related responsibilities.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for community events and trainings.Why Join Pathways?Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in substance abuse prevention and community wellness.Collaborative and supportive work environment.Professional development and certification opportunities.Meaningful work that strengthens individuals, families, and communities.Apply today and help build healthier, stronger communities through prevention and education.
