Job Description Job Description Civil Engineer – Site Development Overview We're seeking a Civil Engineer to support and lead site development projects across New York City and Nassau County. This role focuses on delivering high‑quality civil design solutions for residential, commercial, and municipal projects, with responsibilities spanning design, permitting, coordination, and construction support. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, interact with municipal agencies, and have the opportunity to mentor junior staff while continuing your path toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to grow their technical expertise while working on a diverse mix of urban and suburban developments.Key Responsibilities Lead and support civil design efforts for site development projects, including site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and roadway elementsPrepare engineering design drawings, technical calculations, reports, and permitting packages for agency review and approvalSupport project planning activities such as scheduling, task coordination, and milestone tracking in collaboration with project managers and internal teamsCoordinate with clients, municipal agencies, and stakeholders; participate in meetings, hearings, and site visits to present designs and address technical commentsEnsure designs and deliverables comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including NYSDEC and municipal requirementsPerform QA/QC reviews on plans, calculations, and reports to maintain accuracy, constructability, and consistencyProvide guidance and oversight to junior engineers, drafters, and field staff to support team development and quality outcomesAssist with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses related to drainage and stormwater systemsSupport projects from concept design through permitting and construction support as neededRequired Qualifications 3+ years of civil engineering experience focused on site development and land development projectsProficiency in AutoCAD and experience using Civil 3D for site layout, grading, and infrastructure designHands-on experience with grading, drainage, stormwater systems, utility routing, and sanitary designExperience supporting residential, commercial, and municipal projects , ideally within urban and suburban environments such as NYC and Nassau CountyWorking knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic design principlesFamiliarity with land development permitting processes and agency coordination, including NYSDEC and local municipalitiesStrong technical writing skills, with the ability to prepare reports, calculations, and permit documentationDetail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to QA/QC and technical accuracyEffective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teamsActively pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensurePreferred Qualifications Experience supporting projects from conceptual design through construction administrationAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environmentComfort working in both office and field settings, including occasional site visitsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical, constructible design solutionsJob Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Huntington, NY.Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.Competitive compensation package Health, dental, and vision benefits 401(k) with company match Professional development support, including PE licensure assistance Opportunities for career growth within a respected Long Island engineering firmWorkplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Huntington,NY.Application Deadline This position is anticipated to close on May 29, 2026.About ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
