Responsibilities:

As a Safety & Industrial Hygiene Intern/Co-op, you will play a vital role in maintaining high standards for protecting people, the environment, and our communities. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting facility audits and participating in health and safety projects.
  • Assisting with employee training programs and industrial hygiene practices.
  • Designing and implementing industrial hygiene equipment and performing equipment maintenance.
  • Participating in incident investigations and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Engaging with governmental inspections and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborating with other Marathon business units and working on safety-related projects.
  • Writing reports for various projects.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred majors: Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Management, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability, Fire Protection & Safety, or related fields.
  • Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree (or higher) program during the internship period.
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Authorization to work in the US on a full-time, indefinite basis without needing visa sponsorship.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week.
  • Availability for multiple work terms is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required, as travel may be involved.
  • Ability to safely ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs and/or ladders and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Military experience is a plus.
  • Hourly pay range: $23.65 - $35.96.
