Position Type:Cook/Nutrition Services/CooksDate Posted:11/18/2025Location:Brookview Elementary SchoolCounty:Boone County Schools Additional Information: Show/HideBOONE COUNTY SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION Cook / Food Service WorkerSalary: Commensurate with Boone County Schools ServicePay ScaleQualifications (WV / Policy Considerations) • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred. • Any required food service certification or training per WV or county standards (e.g. ServSafe, local health department). • Ability to obtain and maintain food handling, sanitation, and safety credentials. • Pass background check per state and district requirements. • Ability to work in a kitchen environment (standing long hours, lifting, heat, etc.). • Pass the NOCTI assessment for Cooks Duties & Responsibilities • Prepare and serve meals in adherence to federal, state, and district nutritional standards and menu plans. • Ensure food is prepared hygienically, at correct temperatures, and served safely. • Assist with menu planning, food preparation, portion control, and recipe adherence. • Operate kitchen appliances and equipment safely (ovens, stoves, dishwashers). • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, food prep surfaces, storage areas, and serving lines. • Stock and rotate inventory, check for spoilage, restock as needed, and maintain accurate records. • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations (local health department, state guidelines). • Report equipment malfunctions or needed repairs. • Collaborate with cafeteria manager and other staff to ensure smooth food service operations.
