Position Summary:

ACU has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Collections Specialist to join our CollectionsDepartment in Ashland, KY. This position is full time.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Ashland Credit Union (ACU) in living out its mission of "embolden our members to reach higher, achieve more, and take control of their financial future." A key component to this is providing outstanding service to both internal and external members.

This position will be responsible for engaging and interacting with members who are experiencing troubled debt as well as administrative duties within the Collection Department.

Job Responsibilities:

Monitor loan accounts for delinquent status. Contact members by phone, text, and mail to assist them in developing plans to bring accounts current.

Update files and system accounts via the credit union's delinquent loan recovery system. Maintaining a detailed written record of all communications with members.

Be a subject matter expert related to repossession and bankruptcy processes. This includes preparing accounts for repossession and filing proofs of claims in bankruptcy cases.

Review delinquent accounts to determine when further collection action is needed, making recommendation to Collection Manager for approval.

Evaluate accounts for potential legal action and oversee the progress of ongoing cases.

Perform account research as needed.

This role will be cross training within the Collections Department to perform all tasks and responsibilities within the department

Assist the Collections Manager by providing loss mitigation strategies and implementing interventions aimed at reducing loan loss and delinquency rates.

Other duties as requested by the President, EVP, Chief Risk Officer or Manager.

Education & Experience Requirements:

3 years' experience working in a financial services environment with at least 5 years in collections required

Required Skills & Abilities:

Excellent communication, problem resolution, and research skills

Self-motivated with strong attention to detail

Hours of Operation Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00
