Position Information

Position Title Graduate Assistant-Full time (20 hours per week) 8 positions available Description of GA Assignment GA: Faculty Support - Assist faculty, services may include tasks as supervising laboratories under their supervision; grading quizzes, homework, and other projects; and assist with other course and research related duties as assigned. Job Description Summary

* Provide one-on-one academic tutoring to teach and reteach concepts to H.E.L.P. students

* Offer assistance with developing study strategies

* Work with students to develop a plan that fits the student's individual needs

* Assist students in developing a schedule for study sessions

* Clarify/augment student notes from lecture

* Teach concepts using multi-sensory techniques to maximize student understanding and recall

* Teach organization and time managements skills

* Monitor students' progress through communication with students and professors

* Send legal notification to professors regarding students' with disabilities and accommodations

* Organize and facilitate testing accommodations according to students' diagnosis for compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act and Vocational Rehabilitation Act

* Proctor exams under the supervision of staff monitor

* Maintain student attendance records

* Notify students and parents regarding students' absences from tutoring sessions

* Write End of Semester Reports for each student

* Participate in weekly tutor training and development sessions
