This position may work rotating, evening shifts or weekends. Schedules are subject to change per operational needs for the hospital. Mandatory overtime may be required. This is a tobacco-free campus. Applicants selected for employment must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis & breath analysis drug screening test. All employees shall be subject to drug testing for probable cause as set forth in agency and bureau policies. Applicants selected must successfully complete a background check.
Education:
Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or Education from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
One (1) year full-time or equivalent part-time working with the mentally ill. Volunteer experience may be considered for experience.
Substitution Information: Additional education and experience may be substituted based on a year-for-year basis or as determined by the Office of Shared Administration Equivalency Chart.
Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital, located in Huntington, West Virginia, is a 110-bed psychiatric hospital owned and operated by the West Virginia Department of Health Facilities. Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital provides quality patient care and a safe environment for its patients, who are often committed to the hospital through civil commitment or, in the case of forensic patients, ordered through the judicial system. As a training site for future health care professionals, Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital provides on-site learning experiences for educating physicians, nurses, practical nurses, psychologists, counselors, health care administrators, technicians, and supportive services personnel. The hospital holds accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and is certified by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Through ongoing collaboration with Marshall University's Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry, a variety of medical and clinical professionals partner with the hospital's own staff to work diligently with patients to achieve a smooth transition back to the community after discharge.
