Student Support Specialist/Behavior Interventionist

Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Shall hold a bachelor's degree or higher and the required Kentucky certificate for the assigned Certification areas include: school counselor, instructional leadership, school psychologist, school social worker, teacher of exceptional children, teacher certification.
  2. Shall demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, peers and adults.
  3. Shall demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and faculty.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Shall have the ability to sit, stoop, possibly lift up to 50 pounds or more, any and all body movements as related to the job description.

JOB GOAL:

To provide behavior intervention services to identified students throughout all schools in an effort to engage, motivate and build resilience in students by guiding them to develop life skills and improve their social interaction.

JOB SUMMARY:

To cultivate and promote a safe, learning-centered environment by encouraging positive student behavior, supporting classroom teachers in student behavior management, provide interventions to targeted students, fostering a culture of high expectations for all students and building positive partnerships with families and community partners.

DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 days

SALARY: Commensurate with the school district's Certified Salary Schedule.

FUNDING SOURCE: KDE Stronger Connections Grant for SY 2024-2025 and SY 2025-2026
