Ecological Field Lead

Description:

GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Environmental Specialist 2 (Ecological Field Lead) to conduct wetland delineations and other environmental resources field investigations for energy-related projects. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, utilizing their experience to develop professionally. This position offers flexible hybrid work options, in accordance with company policies, and a sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead ecological field surveys including wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys, botanical investigations, environmental inspections, and compliance monitoring.
  2. Collaborate with a team to conduct ecological studies across the eastern U.S.
  3. Prepare technical reports for energy projects.

Candidate Profile:

  1. Trusted leader skilled in directing field studies in remote locations.
  2. Experienced in ecological and environmental sciences, especially wetland ecology and delineation procedures.
  3. Willing to travel frequently, working on-site in challenging terrains and interacting with agencies and clients.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies, or related field.
  2. Relevant experience in environmental or biological sciences.
  3. Proven expertise in wetland delineations in OH, WV, PA, VA, MD, or surrounding states; wetland delineation training and certification preferred.
  4. Experience with botanical, avian, mammal, and aquatic surveys is a plus.

Travel Requirements:

  • Expect 90% daily travel within VA, PA, WV, and OH, including overnight stays.

Minimum Years of Experience:

2 to 3 years

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences or similar field.

Additional Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Introduction to ecological data collection and regulatory applications.
  • Responsible for personal task management and meeting deadlines.
  • Basic communication skills; teamwork and leadership principles.
