The Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center (KAPAC) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization located in Huntington, WV, seeking to hire a full-time Executive Director. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic leader to provide administrative, operational, and visionary leadership for KAPAC. This position reports directly to the KAPAC Board of Trustees and its President.ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The next Executive Director shall be an energetic leader with a strategic mindset to take the KAPAC to the next level. Leading a team of three, the successful candidate needs to possess a strong understanding of the performing arts and a philanthropic background to increase the usage and revenue generation of the theatre. The Executive Director will be expected to significantly increase revenue generation by strategically selecting, promoting, and marketing performances and events. The Executive Director will negotiate contracts for performances and events at the theatre as approved by the KAPAC Board and supervise live event production and staff for in-house shows. Additionally, the Executive Director will effectively track and manage the KAPAC budget, ensuring operations remain within financial limits. The Executive Director will also ensure that KAPAC funds are used appropriately and that all annual reporting and other obligations are fulfilled. The Executive Director will serve as an ambassador for KAPAC in order to explain the objectives, functions, and programs of the organization as well as to create community goodwill and maintain professional relationships with multiple stakeholders.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must embrace the mission of the KAPACMust have the ability to interact effectively and professionally with KAPAC Board Members, the Director of Development, the Director of Building Operations, and the Associate Director of Development, volunteers, funding source representatives, community leaders, the media, and other individuals who come from diverse backgroundsMust possess excellent written and oral communication skillsMust maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume and set a positive example for the KAPAC staffMust have the ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needsMust have the ability to understand and execute complex instructionsMust possess knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraisingMust possess research experience, using both written and electronic meansMust possess or quickly develop a working familiarity with major production equipment: movie projector, mixing board, light board, etc.Must have the ability to work independently and collaborativelyMust be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising callsMust have strong organizational skills to prioritize projects and focus on detailsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:An earned bachelor's degree in arts administration, business administration, public relations, marketing, or related field from an accredited college or university.Experience in administrative and/or supervisory roles.Knowledge of the fine arts as to programming and scheduling of cultural instruction and events.Alternatives to the above qualifications that the KAPAC Board of Directors finds appropriate and acceptable.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen, including but not limited to social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks and other categories relating to the position.Must have a valid driver's license from the State in which employee resides.Must have and maintain a safe driving record.The role requires an on-site presence to lead the team and engage with the community. While this position is not suitable for remote work, upon occasion, remote work will be allowed based on circumstances. The successful candidate must be able to work nights and weekends as needed to accommodate programmatic and development needs.
