Job Overview
As Operations Manager you will oversee the entire production process. You will manage schedules, maintain quality control, and supervise the production team.
Your key purpose is to manage the daily operations of our print shop to ensure the accurate and efficient flow of orders through the production pipeline.
The ideal candidate will be organized, have excellent attention to detail, and possess a systems-oriented mindset. They will enjoy problem-solving and meeting deadlines.
Similar to how a kitchen expediter orchestrates a seamless flow between front and back-of-house staff to ensure all diners receive their food hot, complete, and on time, you will serve as the liaison between departments to ensure all jobs are received, produced, and shipped accurately and on schedule.
Required Skills

Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work/management experience
- A minimum of 3 years in supervisory, production management, or plant supervisory role
- Must be comfortable with technology, be able to navigate a computer, and use various cloud-based software
- A thorough knowledge of the apparel printing industry is a plus
Schedule / Availability
The Operations Manager is a full-time, onsite, salaried position that often requires you to be the first person in and the last to leave. You should plan on the following availability:
- Work 40 - 50 hrs/week
- Available Monday - Friday 8 AM - 6 PM
- 30-minute lunch with two 15-minute breaks
Key Responsibilities
Team Management
- Supervise production staff
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively
- Provide performance feedback and coaching to improve skills
- Assist with hiring and training of production staff
Production Scheduling
- Create and manage production schedules to meet client deadlines
- Allocate printing jobs to different presses and operators based on complexity and volume
- Monitor workflow and identify potential bottlenecks
Quality Control
- Establish and enforce quality standards for processes in each department
- Implement and enforce quality control measures in each department to help reduce and eliminate future problems
Internal & Client Communication
- Collaborate with Accounts Manager to understand client requirements
- Communicate with the Accounts Manager regarding production timelines, artwork approvals, and any potential issues
- Manage/schedule customer orders to ensure timely delivery
Inventory Management
- Maintain optimal inventory levels of inks, screens, substrates, and other printing materials
- Monitor supply stock levels and place orders with suppliers to avoid shortages
Cost Control
- Track KPIs such as daily impression counts, job run rates, setup/breakdown times
- Establish and enforce realistic job run rates for each decoration process
- Analyze production costs and identify areas for optimization
- Monitor ink usage, labor hours, and material consumption
- Implement cost-saving initiatives to maximize profitability
Safety Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols within the production area
- Train staff on proper handling of chemicals and hazardous materials
Benefits & Pay
Wage
- $50,000 - $60,000 per year
- Commensurate with experience
