Reports to the Facilities Manager. Directly responsible for maintaining the Hospice Care Center in-patient facility: clean, sanitary, safe and attractive at all times.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates the skills needed to be a housekeeper in a health care environment.
Assists in ordering, stocking, and storage of housekeeping/cleaning supplies and equipment.
Assists facilities manager in monitoring housekeeping budget to ensure all purchases are necessary and fall within acceptable guidelines.
Assists facilities manager in following the practices of quality standards and regulations governing cleaning and sanitation in a health care facility.
Willingness to be a readily available resource to co-workers on housekeeping/cleaning matters.
Adheres to the cleaning frequency schedule procedures and promptly documents that all areas have been properly cleaned and sanitized.
Cleans and sanitizes all patient rooms daily according to established procedures.
Cleans, dusts, washes and disinfects all fixtures, floors, walls, doors and ceilings as required.
Scours and polishes water fountains, sinks, mirrors, glass panels in doors, brass and marble, stationary furnishings and fixtures.
Changes slipcovers, doilies, etc., when soiled and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion.
Cleans/dusts all ledges, shelves, vents, door frames, windows and sills etc.
Replenishes soap, hand sanitizer and towel in all dispensers.
Empties and cleans ash trays and waste baskets daily.
Cleans and sanitizes all bathrooms daily.
Performs extensive terminal cleaning when patient rooms are no longer occupied.
Maintains housekeeping supplies, equipment and janitors closets/cleaning supply storage areas clean and organized.
Keeps family room and kitchen clean and orderly.
Assists in setup of dining room for hospice special functions such as holidays, staff meetings, conferences, tours etc., using a variety of settings and formats.
Assists the nursing staff in the cleaning and sanitation of patient DME.
Demonstrates the proper cleaning technique of O2 and vacuum regulators located in patient rooms.
Assists in coordinating floor maintenance including stripping/waxing floors and vacuuming and shampooing of all carpets and rugs.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in housekeeping/cleaning, preferably in a health care setting.
Ability to follow housekeeping guidelines, cleaning schedules and practices.
Personal qualities of empathy, responsibility, dependability, and intelligence.
Must demonstrate effective communication skills with patients, staff, and family members.
Must have the ability to work independent of direct on-site supervision.
Must be able to adhere to all policies and procedures, guidelines and regulations pertaining to housekeeping in a health care environment.
Must be able to pass the Criminal Records Background Check.
Must be able to pass the Driving Records Check upon hire and annually.
Maintains automobile liability insurance.
Must observe universal precautions.
Must ensure a safe and sanitary work environment throughout the in-patient facility.
Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
Must pass pre-employment physical.
Must meet physical requirements for position: walking, lifting, pushing/pulling, standing, sitting, stooping, reading, writing, driving, typing on keyboard, or potential to have an irregular schedule.
Be able to work in an environment with potential for noisy, dusty, dirty, poor ventilation, heat, exposure to disease, or electrical hazard conditions.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in housekeeping/cleaning, preferably in a health care setting.
WORK LOCATION:
In person at inpatient facility.
