Responsible for the learning, participating, and performing duties of a central sterile tech in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. Also learns and performs other duties as assigned or required. Completion of a 2000 hour apprenticeship program and a CRCST certification thereafter is required.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Completing the 2000 hour apprenticeship program as outlined in the Apprentice Program Guide
Clinical responsibilities: to uphold patient safety standards set by KDMC and the national Patient Safety goals.
To learn and perform proper transferring of devices to and from areas in Sterile Processing and Surgery.
To learn and perform Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. Follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
To learn and perform proper monitoring of biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
To learn and perform proper assembling and packaging of instrument tray sets according to the department standard.
To learn and perform proper sterilization methods, such as the difference of, identifying the different types, and proper loading of the sterilizers.
