**Public Area Attendant**

**Housekeeping - Jay, WV - Part Time to Full Time**

The **Public Area Attendant** keeps main resort buildings, hotel, office buildings, or similar building in clean and orderly condition on both the inside and outside of buildings. Must be willing to maintain the highest levels of cleanliness in our public areas, working both independently and as part of a team.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

* Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space.

* Empties trash and garbage containers.

* Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities as required.

* Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.

* Ensures proper stock in supply closets, keeping all required equipment (vacuums and carpet cleaners) in working order.

* Cleans snow and debris from sidewalk.

* Maintains cleanliness outside of buildings, as needed, in walkways, on lawns, parking lots, etc.

* May be required to assist in cleaning of hotel rooms or condo units during periods of high guest turnover.

**When scheduled as Evening Janitor the following *additional* duties may be assigned:**

+ Cleans and maintains supplies for the following buildings according to the posted schedule:

- Clubhouse

- Mountain Kids Adventure Center

- Clips & Reels

- Adminstrative Buildings

- Bullwheel Bar & Stateside Cafeteria

+ Carries the condo housekeeping cellphone in order to receive after-hours calls from hotel front desks.

+ Makes room calls to both condo housekeeping guests and hotel guests as needed.

+ Ensures all clean laundry is picked up and delivered to designated areas.

* Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. **EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS**

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS**

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

**REASONING ABILITY**

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

**OTHER QUALIFICATIONS**

Must have a professional and courteous attitude toward guests, other employees and the general public at all times.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

**RESORT CONDITIONS**

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
