The Maintenance Technician completes maintenance work orders necessary to keep plant equipment, machinery, and tools in good operating condition. Primary role expectation is based on routine work originating from daily communication with operations, equipmentinspections, scoping, and executing planned work orders while promoting an engaged and reliability centered maintenance culture. Non routine work could involve troubleshooting and diagnosing a wide variety of equipment issues and performing unplanned corrective repairs.

Location: Ironton, Ohio - Must be in a commutable distance or willing to relocate.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Understands and references maintenance procedures, engineering drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, operating and maintenance manuals, utilizing them to perform proper maintenance tasks.
  • Routinely inspects condition of plant machinery and equipment with experience in identifying and documenting defects that require corrective maintenance.
  • Able to troubleshoot and service basic mechanical assemblies such as pumps, gearboxes, couplings, control valves, hydraulic and pneumatic systems at an intermediate level. Assists with responding to shift maintenance issues when necessary.
  • Perform piping and equipment assembly and repair using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, brushes, scrapers, torque wrenches and advanced tools such as hydraulic torquing equipment and laser alignment devices.
  • Able to coordinate activities such as leading small teams and projects, managing work with operations or contractors and communicating with maintenance supply and repair vendors.
  • Maintains detailed records of work performed with accurate time confirmation and material usage. Proficient in using computer maintenance management system to appropriately create, populate and close work orders.
  • Assists Maintenance Planner/Scheduler in accurately detailing a job scope when necessary. Provides clear feedback to Supervisor and Maintenance Planner/Scheduler on planned tasks to improve the team's performance metrics.
  • Engages with routine task lists to provide feedback to Maintenance Planner/Scheduler and Reliability Engineer for improving work instructions and support a procedure driven culture.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Follow all PPE requirements and safety rules.
  • Able to operate mobile equipment such as loaders, manlifts, and forklifts to safely lift, transport, and position materials.
  • Experience with proper rigging and lifting techniques of material and able to spot for lifts, communicating with coworkers via two-way radio and hand signals.
  • Assist in training of coworkers as needed.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition, familiar with 5S practices.
  • Ability to work in a rotating shift schedule including days, nights, and weekends.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (Required)
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Verifiable maintenance technical training.
  • Understanding of shop mathematics with the use of drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and precision measuring instruments.
  • 3 to 5 years minimum of heavy industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the following maintenance disciplines: AC/DC motors, gear box mechanics, lubrication principles, welding, cutting torch, NFPA 70E, and common maintenance hand tools.
  • Intermediate knowledge of pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, stick and tig welding and rigging principles.
  • Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, and push and pull objects.
  • Ability to work at heights on modular equipment and atop silos.
  • Reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged sitting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching.
  • Ability to use respiratory protection such as negative and positive pressure masks.

Preferred Qualifications
  • AAS in industrial maintenance and maintenance reliability certifications are preferred.
  • Previous work experience and understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM)
