Position Title: Shift Leader

Job Brief:

We at Danieli are "One Stop Shop Solution" for all steel major players around the world. Danieli is looking for a Shift Leader for Thin Slab Caster-Mold & Segment Workshop. The Shift Leader manages and coordinates the workshop crewduring the shift and ensures compliance with maintenance plans in full compliance with all regulations relating to workplace safety and environmental impact. Reports hierarchically to the workshop manager and manages a crew of 10-30 people during the work shift.

Tasks and Day-to-Day Activities in the role:

  • Maintenance Workshop Shift Leader performs a wide range of tasks to ensure machinery and equipment are properly maintained. They will work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends as required. Some of the main tasks include:
    • Supervise, monitor and participate in individual maintenance operations by transmitting the guidelines and standards to the crew
    • Ensure that staff adhere to good safety practices and policies
    • Organize and maintain work areas
    • Identify, report and help resolve obstacles as they occur (examples: material shortages, design anomalies, quality issues and equipment failures)
    • Ensure accurate and timely completely of time and resource reporting records for work carried out during the shift, aided by the maintenance IT system
    • Identify opportunities, drive initiatives and promote continuous improvement of procedures, machinery and equipment to optimize safety, productivity and quality
    • Participate and contribute to root cause analysis exercises
    • Follow up on other activities as needed

Skills and Must Have's:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent technical training
  • At least (3+) years' experience within the iron & steel industry, or at least (5+) years' experience in a similar role in a similar industry, with a strong mechanical background
  • Candidates who can demonstrate both strong knowledge and experience with Corrective and Preventative Maintenance and active experience and knowledge within maintenance role, specifically in the fields of Casting and/or Hot/Cold Rolling, will have an advantage
  • Willing to initially travel in the first year; 70% domestically and internationally for training and customer sites
